After a season-opening loss, the Emmaus High School girls basketball team responded by winning its next two games, both Eastern Pennsylvania Conference matchups.
Last Monday, Dec. 1, the Hornets took down Central Catholic 69-44 and then defeated Nazareth 55-40 on Thursday.
In the victory over the Vikettes, Emmaus trailed 16-10 before outscoring CCHS 59-28 over the final three quarters to earn its first win of the season. Senior Gabby DeVita led all scorers with 15 points. Sophomore Eva Glover tallied 14 points and sophomore Gracie Ervin recorded 13 points. Senior Olive Whitney netted eight points and Olivia Haberl contributed seven points.
In the win against the Blue Eagles, the Hornets jumped out in front early with a strong first quarter, outscoring Nazareth 18-8 and held firm the rest of the way. Glover finished with a team-best 20 points. Ervin added nine points, while Whitney tallied eight. Sierra Stevens contributed six points.
