EHS girls basketball starts 4-0 in EPC

The Emmaus High School girls basketball remained undefeated in conference action with two straight East Penn Conference victories, taking down Allen 72-27 last Tuesday, Dec. 9, and then dispatching of East Stroudsburg North 74-18 Friday.

In the win over the Canaries, Emmaus took a 19-8 advantage after the opening quarter and then really took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring Allen 30-7 to lead 49-15 at halftime and saw out the rest of the game.

Gracie Ervin finished with a team-high 19 points and both Gabby DeVita and Eva Glover scored 10 points. Olive Whitney tallied eight points.

In the victory against the Timberwolves, the Hornets made quick work as they scored 22 of the 28 first quarter points between the teams and then outscored them 33-4 in the second to take a 55-10 lead at the intermission. DeVita netted a game-high 18 points, while Ervin tallied 12 points and Sierra Stevens contributed 11. Whitney totaled seven points in the win.

Emmaus, which is now 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference, has a difficult stretch as it plays three conference games this week with the Christmas break coming up next week. The Hornets were at Liberty Tuesday before hosting Dieruff on Thursday and Parkland on Saturday afternoon.

There are just three other teams in the EPC that are unbeaten, as Bethlehem Catholic, Easton and the Trojans are also 4-0. Emmaus has won four straight since a season-opening loss to Wilson-West Lawn.
