Hokendauqua: Hometown Heroes program opens
Applications for the 2026 Whitehall Hometown Heroes banner program will be accepted Jan. 5-March 13. This is the fifth year Whitehall has conducted the program.
According to the township, “The program serves as a tribute to recognize service men and women native to Whitehall Township who have served or are serving our country in a branch of the military. [Each banner] will include his or her picture, branch of service and era of service.
“Banners will be displayed on the telephone poles around Whitehall Township beginning on Flag Day until we transition into the holiday season. Banners will be stored at the township during the off-season. There is no guarantee as to the life of the banner, but all retired banners will be returned to the sponsor.”
There is a cost for the banner, which is 30 inches wide by 60 inches tall.
For an application, visit the township website at whitehalltownship.org/rec-events or stop by the municipal building. Mail your application to Whitehall Township Municipal Building, 3219 MacArthur Road, Whitehall, 18052, with attention to Michele K. Dragovits, administrative coordinator.
