Catasauqua Area School District Board of Education took time before the Dec. 9 regular meeting for its annual reorganization meeting.
The meeting opened with the newly re-elected members taking the oath of office. Notary Stacy Zellner led Dale Hein, Shawn McGinley, Christy Cooper and Jamie Nattress in their oaths.
It was noted Hein had been elected to both a four-year and two-year term to the board. He chose to accept the four-year seat, leaving a vacancy in the two-year seat. The board members nominated Jason Bashaw, whose board term was to expire in 2025, to fill the vacant seat. He was unanimously approved and took the oath of office.
With all board members sworn in, they unanimously re-elected Hein to retain the role of board president. Jillian Emert was also unanimously voted, with herself abstaining, to keep serving as vice president.
During the reorganization meeting, the board also approved the schedule of regular and committee meetings for the 2026 calendar year. There was a change needed in the committee meeting dates to accommodate Solicitor David Knerr’s schedule. The change was approved.
Knerr was also approved to continue serving as the district solicitor for another year, at $160 an hour.
The final appointment during the reorganization meeting was to appoint Lauren Cieslak as the district’s liaison to Pennsylvania School Boards Association. The vote was unanimous, with Cieslak abstaining.
