Donations requested after fire in Coplay

The Coplay Fire Department is collecting necessities for a borough family after a late-night fire Dec. 21 tore through a home at 14 N. Ninth St.

According to a report, firefighters responded to a fire call with entrapment just before 10 p.m. Catasauqua assisted with its ladder vehicle.

The fire was extinguished, thanks to additional mutual aid from Northampton Borough, Charotin (North Catasauqua), Greenawalds, Whitehall Township’s Egypt station, Walnutport, Nancy Run and Northampton Regional EMS.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were able to rescue five cats from the home.

In a Dec. 22 post on Facebook, Coplay Fire Department is asking for support for the family impacted by the blaze. Items needed include:

• Size large women’s shirts

• Size large women’s pants

• Size 10 women’s shoes

Also requested is cat food, litter and other supplies.

Items can be dropped off at the front door of 165 Cherry St., Coplay.
