Walt A. Horn, 81, of Coplay, died Dec. 17, 2025, at home. He was the husband of the late Eloise Horn.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Anna (David) and John R. Horn.
He played football, basketball and baseball at Allen High School and football and baseball at Moravian College (now University). He received a Bachelor of Arts in English at Moravian 1967 and a Masters in Education in counseling at Lehigh University in 1973.
He coached football at college, high school and semipro levels, including 10 years at Moravian. He was a college recruiter and a high school guidance counselor. In addition, for a few years, he wrote straight news, feature articles and sports coverage for The Morning Call.
He was a charter member of Allentown Rugby Club and a former usher at St. Catherine’s of Siena Cathedral.
He was a three-time cancer survivor. He was an outstanding soccer player on national, regional and local levels.
He was the grandson of Captain Walter C. Horn, a well-known coronist/conductor with John Philip Sousa’s Marine Band, community and Marine bands in Allentown and Bethlehem, and the Moravian Brass Choir. His great-grandfather, Abraham D. Horn, served in The Civil War with the 71st regiment of Pennsylvania volunteers.
He is survived by his companion, Christine A. Beller of Coplay.
There will be no services.
