Macungie Mayor Ron Conrad signs off

Macungie Borough Council met for its final meeting of the year Dec. 15. The budget was approved with an amendment for moving money from different areas to the general fund. There is no tax change.

Resolution 2025-11 was approved for the banners across the state highway. This is up for approval every year.

The 2026 meeting schedule was approved. Exceptions in the scheduling of meetings are affected by holidays.

Barbara Levinson was reappointed as the borough representative for the Emmaus Public Library. It is a three-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2028.

Macungie Mayor Ron Conrad spoke about his exit as the mayor of Macungie. Conrad shared his positive experiences such as the various events in the borough including Macungie Holiday, tree lighting and others. He spoke of the issues over certain council situations that caused him to make his decision to leave.

Councilman John Yerman raised the issue of speed limit signs, particularly upon entry into the borough.

Examples of this situation include North Chestnut Street and North Walnut Street. Speed limit signs are not available at the entry point.

Yerman also said state Rep. Josh Siegel, D-22nd, has received a large grant to help increase affordable housing in the Lehigh Valley.

An executive session over legal and personnel issues was held.
