Donations made to benefit students

The Salisbury Township Board of Directors held both an operations and finance committee meeting as well as a school board meeting Dec. 3.

There were no items on the agenda for the operations portion of the meeting and the finance committee reported the audit is moving along ahead of schedule as is the budget process. All departments and buildings have received budgets with a request to make cuts and concessions where they can. Final budgets are due Jan. 2, 2026.

During the regular school board meeting, Chief Financial Officer, Board Secretary Dawn Nickischer reported the Pennsylvania Independent Fiscal Office issued the estimated Act I Index percentages revealing that over the next four years, the percentage rates will be between 3.1 and 3.3.

Curriculum and technology chairperson Carol Klinger brought several items to the board for approval including a Learnwell agreement to provide educational services for a Salisbury student, a five-year affiliation agreement with Muhlenburg College, a five-year dual enrollment agreement with Cedar Crest College and a waiver of expulsion for a Salisbury student through the end of the 2025-2026 school year. All motions passed.

The board passed a motion to approve adding Anureet Chander as a substitute teacher for the district.

In her superintendent’s report, Lynn Fuini-Hetten acknowledged the high attendance numbers achieved throughout the district, noted the PSSA/Keystone testing dates for the spring which are outlined in the community update and announced a generous donation was received from The Yurconic Agency to the Salisbury Education Foundation. Additionally, a $10,000 donation was made by the Lehigh Valley Educators Credit Union to support students.

Upcoming meetings of the Salisbury Township school board include 7 p.m. Jan. 14, 2026, operations and finance committee meeting, 7 p.m. Jan. 21, 2026, curriculum and technology committee meeting followed by a regular school board meeting. All meetings are held in the administration building, 1140 Salisbury Road, Allentown.
