Girls teams pick up hoop victories

Bethlehem Catholic’s girls basketball team held on for a 42-39 victory over Nazareth on Dec. 12 at Bethlehem Catholic.

Becahi had a slight lead at halftime, but surged ahead with a 14-point third quarter.

Nazareth came back with 13 points in the fourth quarter but not enough to walk away with the win.

Top scorers were Karly Leszcynski, who had 13 points for the Blue Eagles, and Kamryn Gallis, who had 12 points for the Hawks.

Liberty’s girls took on Northampton, also on Dec. 12, when the Hurricanes defeated the Konkrete Kids, 59-44.

Ava Kopetskie had a game high 28 points for the ‘Canes.

Freedom’s girls hosted Easton last Friday night when the Red Rovers defeated the Patriots, 62-35.

Payton Besecker led the Pates with 12 points, and Melina Cole had 17 points for Easton.
