Mara Beck, 73, of Kutztown, died peacefully and unexpectedly in her sleep Dec. 11, 2025. Mara grew up in Bethlehem and attended Dieruff High School where she met her future husband, Rod Beck. They married shortly after graduating from high school and had a beautiful 53 year marriage. Together they raised two boys.

In 1985, the family moved to New Tripoli where she was active in many community groups and worked as a high school administrative secretary at Northwestern Lehigh High School for more than 20 years.

An avid gardener, she achieved the prestigious Master Gardener designation from Penn State and designed several area gardens using her exquisite taste and her knowledge of local plants to beautify her community.

Upon retiring, they moved to Kutztown. In retirement, she continued to garden to beautify her home and community and indulge her love of travel, visiting new places far and near. Always up for an adventure, she recently took up golf and frequently took advantage of living so close to Kutztown University by attending lectures and games on campus.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Jeremy and Curtis; daughters-in-law, Kristen and Julie; grandsons, Grayson and Alexander.

The family will host a celebration of life in the spring when her much loved plants begin to bloom.
