Members of Parkland’s District 11 champion girls tennis team competed at all levels of the PIAA Class 3A Championships recently.
After beating Emmaus to win its fifth straight team district title, the Trojans advanced to the state tournament to face District 1’s third-place team Council Rock South on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
The Golden Hawks won the match 3-1. Parkland’s Alexandria Warsing was the only match winner for the Trojans.
Warsing, a senior and two-time District 11 singles champ, competed in the state championship singles bracket on Friday, Oct. 31, and lost to District 7 runner up Amelia Williams (Penn Trafford) 6-2, 6-3.
Parkland’s District 11 champion doubles team of sophomore Sonia Lee and freshman Sadie Pollard also competed in their state bracket on Oct. 31. They were beaten 6-0, 6-2 by Shady Side Academy sophomores Brooke Henderson and Alexandra Merkel, who were runners up in District 7.
