Emmaus High School names Student of the Week
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets
A. My mother is Nicole, my father is William, my older brother is Logan and our pet koi fish is named Aquarus.
Q. As a senior, do you have any specific goals you will pursue this academic year?
A. I hope to make Principal’s Honor Roll for all four marking periods and continue to help the school community by volunteering through Interact Club and National Honor Society.
Q. What is your favorite class at Emmaus High School? Why?
A. My favorite was definitely chemistry honors with Mr. Bradley. I love to learn about science, so the content of the class was always very interesting, and I had friends in the class that just made it so enjoyable to be there. Mr. Bradley always made sure that class was interesting and exciting to be a part of.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. Yes, I am a member of National Honor Society and have made Principal’s Honor Roll all four of my years at Emmaus High School.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. Yes, I am involved in Interact Club and the Emmaus High School varsity swim and dive team and Emmaus Aquatic Club. Interact Club has helped me make the high school a better place by contributing to events like school trash cleanups. Both the Emmaus High School swim and dive team and Emmaus Aquatic Club have helped me to learn discipline, not only in the sport of swimming, but also in life. They have taught me invaluable lessons about hard work, friendship, dedication and the importance of teamwork.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge to date was learning how to study and take better notes during freshman year. Throughout middle school, I hadn’t really learned good studying or note taking skills, and during freshman year I had some trouble on tests and quizzes. I learned better studying and note taking skills after these failures and have become a better student because of it.
Q. At this time, what are your plans for the future beyond high school?
A. I plan to attend college and major in film, specifically cinematography. I have always been very passionate about movies and television, and becoming a cinematographer would help me to be a part of the production process and share my love of film with the world.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. I would choose Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer. I would choose Dr. Oppenheimer because his contributions to science, such as the creation of the first atomic bomb, are some of the most important in human history, and have greatly influenced the course of history. He is incredibly talented, smart and complex, and would be a very interesting person to talk to.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered for being a friendly and likable person. Being kind is one of the most important qualities a person could have, so to be remembered as a kind and friendly person who made a positive impact on the lives of others would be very special.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Do not let life pass you by. It is easy sometimes to think about the future, especially as a senior thinking about college, but if you continue to only think about the future, you will miss out on the present. Be sure to enjoy your life now and just let the future happen.
