Ruth J. (Schaffer) Schmick, 85, of Slatington, died Nov. 30, 2025. She was the wife of the late Guy L. Schmick. Born in Orefield, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Leah (Rauch) Schaffer.

She was employed at the former Kmart in Walnutport as a department manager for 20 years before retiring in 2000. Before that, she worked at Crystal Spring Farm Store in Schnecksville.

She was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.

She is survived by children, Charles W. (Shawn), of Statesville, N.C., Cynthia L. Hallman (William), of Slatington, Jeffrey L., of Slatington, Tammy L., of Coplay; sisters, Dorothy L. Hoffer, of Whitehall, Mae M. Tanczos, of Slatington; six grandchildren; two great-granddaughters.

She was predeceased by brothers, Ernest C. Schaffer and Eugene O. Schaffer.

A private funeral service was held at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. in Schnecksville.
