N. Catty Borough lauds departments for holiday event

During the Dec. 1 North Catasauqua Borough Council meeting, there were many acknowledgments and thanks extended to the parks and recreation and public works departments for helping organize and set up the holiday tree lighting. The annual event was held Nov. 30 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.

It was mentioned the ceremony went very well and was well attended.

During the report from Secretary Tasha Jandrisovits, council approved resolution 403 to apply for a $1 million Local Share Account grant for a new firetruck for 2027. Council is expected to hear a decision regarding another LSA grant the borough sought for a firetruck and roof work at the borough office January 2026.

In the report from North Catasauqua Police Department Chief Christopher Wolfer, the 2025 police vacation carryover to use through June 2026 was council approved.

Council confirmed it will hold only one meeting this month.

Borough council will next meet 6 p.m. Jan. 5, 2026, for its reorganization meeting, with Judge Robert Hawke swearing in Mayor William J. Molchany Jr. a few minutes before, at the municipal building, 1066 Fourth St. Incoming council member Scott Holmes will also take his oath. The regular meeting will follow 7 p.m.
