Florence Snyder Hottenstein

of Salisbury Township

Florence R. Snyder Hottenstein, 93, of Salisbury Township, died Dec. 3, 2025, in Cedarbrook Nursing Home – Fountain Hill Annex. She was the wife of the late Charles N. Snyder Sr. who died in 2005 and the late Harvey Hottenstein who died in 2010. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late John and Mildred (Heil) Ritter.

She worked as a waitress and cook for 40 years at Marco’s Restaurant in Allentown and later at the Fearless Fire Company for seven and one-half years until retiring in 1996. Additionally, she worked in the kitchen at Kmart for a brief time.

She was a member of St. Mark’s UCC in Allentown.

She was also a member of St. Mark’s Senior Citizens, VFW Post 2124 and the Fearless Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by a daughter, Janet F. Butz, of Salisbury Township; sons, Charles N. Snyder Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Slatington, John S. Snyder, of Allentown, Dennis J. Snyder and his wife, Connie, of Allentown; sister-in-law, Linda Degler, of Allentown; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry A. Snyder; grandson, Adam Webster; son-in-law, Howard Butz Sr.; brothers, Frederick, John Jr., Amos, Harvey, James and Robert Ritter.

K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, 46 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown, handled the arrangements.
