Anthony A. Gnas
Anthony A. “Tony” Gnas, 77, of Slatington, died Dec. 2, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Distler) Gnas to whom he was married 52 years. Born in Palmerton, Carbon County, he was the son of the late Frank Thaddeus Gnas and Elizabeth Veronica (Gusick) Gnas.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971 and the reserves from 1987 to 2007.
He was employed at the Norristown State Hospital as a fire marshall before retiring. Before that, he worked at Macks Trucks, Inc. as a crane inspector.
Active in the life of his community, he was a member of the Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington, Slatington Fire Department, Slatington Lodge 440, F.&A.M., assistant EMA director for Slatington Borough, a lifetime member of the Slatington Skeet Club and Sporting Association and Assumption B.V. M. Roman Catholic Church, Slatington.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Brian L. (Erin), of Allentown, Becky S., of Slatington, Anthony A. Jr. (Erin), of Hatfield, Frank H. (Ronni), of Lehighton; sister, Patricia Lettich (Joseph), of Hanover Township; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Frances Peters; grandchildren, Matthew and Justin.
A funeral service will be held noon Dec. 12, at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. (Fr.) Eric R. Arnout officiating.
