MAMA’S MUSINGS By Lani Goins

Making progress

Enjoying the light snow this morning. It really makes the Christmas City live up to its name. When we are out and about at night, I point out all the lights and decorations. I love this time of year.

I’ve spent the holiday working on unpacking. I was happy to find my youngest son’s Gritty and MeLVin stuffies in time for Gritty’s visit to the Phantoms. We had our photo taken, and Gritty seemed glad of the toys of his image.

My older son moved a lot of boxes to my room. It’s a big room. But finding my stand mixer upstairs was not a fun surprise.

Still, I’m making progress. I am coming to realize that any lack of progress upsets me. That is definitely a me issue.

I am trying to enjoy myself anyway, moment by moment. It’s a work in progress, of course. Therapy is helping. The new place is slowly coming together, and I love it.

Still, I am now hoping we are all settled in by Christmas.

The child support is behind again. I just have to ignore it. You can’t fix what isn’t in your control.

I’m working hard and just trying to keep my head up. Happy, my youngest is off the crutches. He is still a bit wobbly, but he is improving.

Counting blessings where I can find them!
