Upper Macungie Township holds topping off ceremony at new community center
Upper Macungie Township held a topping off ceremony Nov. 20 at the new Upper Macungie Township Community Lifestyle Center, 360 Grange Road.
Laura McHugh, chair of the Upper Macungie Township Community Fund was the emcee for the program.
The community fund is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3) that works with the township to advance projects that enrich the lives of township residents.
They’re 100% focused on raising private resources to support projects within the township.
The groundbreaking for the new community center was 14 months ago and now it’s time to finish off the interior of the structure.
Founding partners include Air Products, Jaindl Family of Companies, The Butz Family of Companies and health care partner, Lehigh Valley Health Network, a part of Jefferson Health.
Donors include Aramark, Inc., E.F. Butz Insurance Agency, East Coast Facilities, ET&T, IBEW 375, Interior Workspace Solutions, Josh Early Candies, Lehigh Valley Restaurant Brands Lynar Corp. and Primo Brands.
Board members of the Community Fund include Brian Farrell, Luke Jaindl, Mike Butz, Mike Clark, Matthew Bernard, Kathy Rader and incoming member Andy Phillips and Jeff Fleischaker, chair of the Upper Macungie Township supervisors.
According to Bill Loewen, senior project manager, StructureCraft, the Upper Macungie Township Community Center is one of the largest in North America to use timber framework.
The beams span four interconnected buildings of the 188,000-square-foot building.
