SHS names Student of the Week
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My parents’ names are Sarah and Abraham. My siblings’ names are Jonah and Audrey. I have a pet cat named Mrs. Tiger.
Q. As a senior, do you have any specific goals you will pursue this academic year?
A. My academic goals for this year are to have higher grades than previous years and improve on many important skills.
Q. What is your favorite class at Salisbury High School? Why?
A. My favorite class is Honors Physics because it often challenges our critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I received the Rensselaer Medal which recognizes students who have high academic achievement in math and science. This award is also a scholarship to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. I am involved in cross-country, track, Model UN, Scholastic Scrimmage, concert band, jazz band, class advisory, SGA, Boy Scouts and marching band. Being involved in these activities has helped me improve on many important skills such as leadership.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge to date is public speaking during presentations. I am often nervous when I present and this is one of the skills I focus on improving.
Q. At this time, what are your plans for the future beyond high school?
A. My current plans are to attend college to get a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in a related field.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with an historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. I would want to talk to Walt Disney. This is because he had many innovative engineering ideas while creating the Disney parks.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered for being a helpful person. This is because I try to help others whenever I can in some of the activities I do like marching band.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Always ask your teachers for help if you are struggling to understand a concept. Most of the teachers will help you understand it either in class or during Falcon Period.
