Santa Claus to visit Vera Cruz firehouse Dec. 6

Your holiday calendar is about to get a bit more crowded.
On Dec. 6 Citizen’s Fire Company will host Santa Claus 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vera Cruz firehouse, 4093 Main Road West.
Doors open 9:50 a.m. for fans and Santa is scheduled to arrive 10 a.m.
Leashed pets are welcome 10-11 a.m.
Photos will be available for a donation.
Upper Milford Western District Fire Company offers Douglas and Fraser fir trees at the firehouse, 6341 Chestnut St., Saturdays and Sundays. Donations vary based upon the size of the tree.
Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days and proceeds benefit the fire company.
On Dec. 20, the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus, the home library of Upper Milford Township residents, will offer a toy repair workshop with Dr. Stuffy 2-3 p.m.
Dr. Stuffy will provide a free clinic for stuffy and toy repairs. All materials will be provided. To register, visit the library website, www.emmauspl.org, or stop by the main desk at the library.
The Friends of the Emmaus Library will host its annual holiday book sale at the library 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 5. Books, including holiday cookbooks and children’s books, will be available for sale as well as gently used puzzles, CDs and DVDs, according to organizers. Proceeds benefit the library.
Southern Lehigh Public Library, 3200 Preston Lane, Coopersburg, the home library for Lower Milford Township residents, offers a number of holiday-themed events, including a concert by Lehigh Valley Harmonizers a cappella choir 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 4.

The library also is hosting its 14th annual Baker’s Choice Holiday Cookie Sale. Call or stop by the library front desk to place an order.
Cookies will be available for pickup noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 12 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 13.

The Friends of the Southern Lehigh Library presents the Lehigh County Historical Society with its program “Christmas at Hess’s Department Store” 7 p.m. Dec. 10.
The program is part of the “Evenings with Friends” series at the library.
In its heyday, Hess’s Department Store was considered a jewel in the crown, if not the crown itself, for retail in the Lehigh Valley.
Holiday crafting events, a carol sing, a special program to celebrate the 250th birthday of author Jane Austen and more are on the library’s calendar for December. Visit the library website, front desk or give the staff a call for details.
Both libraries also will offer screenings of holiday movies during December. Check their respective calendars for details.
Please note Lehigh County Authority declared a drought watch effective Nov. 21. County residents are asked to voluntarily reduce water use by 5%.
Upper Milford Township supervisors are scheduled to meet 7 p.m. Dec. 4 and Dec. 18 at the township building, 5671 Chestnut St. There is also an online option available.
Lower Milford Township supervisors are scheduled to next meet 6:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at the township building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road.
Township offices in both municipalities will be closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2026.
