Liberty High School’s girls basketball team will be balanced by a combination of upper classmen and under classmen for the 2025-2026 season.
Key returners will include Ava Kopetskie, Chloe Rumelhart, and Emma Miller with Kopetskie and Rumelhart taking on the captains’ roles.
“The expectation of them is to lead this group, hold themselves and teammates accountable, and to make sure everyone sticks together through the highs and lows the season brings,” said Liberty head coach Jarrett Carnes.
“We will challenge teams with our defense, rebounding, and athleticism. The one thing we really want to improve this season is our rebounding on both ends of the floor.”
Kopetskie is a Loyola University Maryland commit and is on the verge of becoming Liberty’s all-time leading scorer for both girls and boys.
The Hurricane senior currently sits at 1,061 points. Dana Wieller leads the girls scorers with 1,334 points, and Warren West leads the boys scorers with 1,487 points.
Coach Carnes will be assisted by Kye Adams, Sherri McDonald, Maddie Capuano, and O’dess Carnes, who is Coach Carnes’ uncle.
Ava Kopetskie has a chance to become the girls all-time leading scorer.
