EHS names student of the week
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. Maria Hernandez (mom), Mario Hernandez (dad) and Abraham Hernandez (brother).
Q. As a senior, do you have any specific goals you will pursue this academic year?
A. My goal for this year is to maintain an A for the year in every class. I would like to also get at least a 4 on all four of my AP exams.
Q. What is your favorite class at Emmaus High School? Why?
A. My favorite class this year has definitely been AP Government. This class, taught by Mr. Pum, keeps me very engaged every day with plenty of opportunities to get involved and speak, which I love doing. On top of that, every day when I get home I always seem to have something to say to my parents about this class which shows not only am I enjoying the class, but the information is staying with me as well.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I have received academic excellence for all three years in high school as well as achieving Principal’s Honor Roll every marking period throughout my high school career.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. I am involved in several clubs including pickleball club where I serve as vice president, bake club, Morgan’s Message and more. Being in these organizations has had a very positive impact on my high school career. It has allowed me to not only hang out with more of my friends, but also make new ones in places where we show common interests. Being in National Honor Society has also allowed me to talk to people smarter or wiser than me as I am volunteering.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge to date was managing a near full schedule junior year, including four AP classes and two honors classes.
Q. At this time, what are your plans for the future beyond high school?
A. I plan to attend a four-year college, hopefully at UNC, for biomedical engineering.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. If I could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, I would choose Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick’s music is incredibly relatable and insightful, so being able to talk to him would give me the opportunity to gain even more wisdom.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered as someone who was kind to everyone. I strive to be a good person to as many people as I can to spread kindness into the world.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Surround yourself with people that make you happy and pay no mind to those who judge you.
