Whitehall-Coplay School Board director attends last meeting
During the Nov. 24 Whitehall-Coplay School Board meeting, the board acknowledged board Director Keri Kromer. This meeting was her last meeting after four years of service.
The school board approved several new administrative appointments. Gabriel Dillard will serve as the district’s director of educational operations, with an annual salary of $132,179, prorated, with a start date to be determined.
Michael Rile has been named principal of Zephyr Elementary School, earning an annual salary of $118,000, with a start date to be announced.
Megan Pierre has been appointed assistant principal at Whitehall High School, with a prorated annual salary of $105,000, and a start date to be announced.
Also at the meeting, Whitehall High School Student Council President Maya Williams opened the session with exciting updates. The Scholastic Scrimmage team competed at the Henderson Tournament, while AP chemistry, AP physics and anatomy students enjoyed hands-on learning through field trips to DeSales University and health-focused experiences.
In athletics, the Whitehall-Coplay football team won the district championship against Pocono Mountain East. Winter sports are underway, and the cheerleading team will host a competition Dec. 13. WCMS students also recently performed a production of “High School Musical Jr.,” drawing a strong turnout.
Students shared highlights from the 89th Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils event in Grove City. WHS’ Carolyn Radon was named Region I Advisor of the Year for 2025.
“I’d just like to thank my council for nominating me for the award,” Radon said. “Thank you all for supporting us and allowing us to attend these conferences.”
Whitehall-Coplay will host the regional PASC conference in March 2026.
The board thanked Whitehall Active Community Center for donating snacks and the Muhlenberg team of Lehigh Valley Physicians Musculoskeletal Services for providing Thanksgiving meals to families in need.
The treasurer’s report was approved, showing a beginning balance of $21.46 million, receipts of $4.03 million, matured investments of $1.51 million and a cash balance of $9.32 million, as of Oct. 31.
Bills and salaries were approved for the general, cafeteria, capital projects and capital reserve funds.
The board also approved the reorganization meeting, which was scheduled for Dec. 2, the regular committee and board meetings for 2026 and the termination of a food service employee effective Nov. 24 and confirmed PPL Center as the 2026 graduation venue, pending final approvals.
