State Sen. Nick Miller, D-14th, announced Whitehall Township will receive $74,700 through the Municipal Assistance Program. The funding will help the township update its 20-year-old comprehensive plan to better manage future growth and development in response to the region’s changing needs.

This award is part of a broader initiative by Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration, which recently provided a total of $904,489 in Municipal Assistance Program funding to support 18 projects across 14 counties.

“With this $74,700 award, Whitehall Township will be able to update their comprehensive plan, positioning them to guide more strategic growth and development in the future,” Miller said. “Investments like these strengthen our communities by giving local governments the tools they need to collaborate and implement solutions that meet residents’ needs and plan efficiently using more recent and accurate data.”

Administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Municipal Assistance Program supports a range of planning and implementation efforts by local governments including shared-service activities such as regionalization, consolidation or merging of services, shared personnel, high-impact projects that serve multiple municipalities and boundary change efforts. The 2025-26 budget includes $2 million for the Municipal Assistance Program to continue investment in Pennsylvania’s communities.
