Robert A. Schofield
Robert A. Schofield, 94, residing at Rittenhouse Village, Allentown, formerly of Hampton, N.J., died Nov. 21, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. For 65 years, he was the devoted husband of the late Doris (Dressler) Schofield. Born in Providence, R.I., he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary E. (Conca) Schofield.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War era. He was a proud graduate of Seton Hall University, after which he worked as an agent for Allstate Insurance for 40 years.
A devout Catholic, he was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in Pittstown, N.J. for over 30 years. Before that, he was a member of Saint Ann’s parish in Hampton, N.J. for decades, serving as Eucharistic Minister and lector and singing in the choir. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a wood carving group in Flemington, N.J. The only thing he loved more than the Yankees, NJ Devils and Seton Hall was his wife and family. He also loved singing, telling stories and jokes and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by sons, Michael J., of Houston, Texas; Stephen G., of Alexandria, Va.; Brian D. (Elizabeth), of Allentown; Jeffrey A. (Sharon), of Hershey; Kevin J. (Michelle), of Ardmore; Mark E. (Linda), of New York City; sister, Jean C. West, of Bloomfield, N.J.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
