Race Street Baptist Church member
David L. Rute, 93, of Palmerton, died Nov. 23, 2025, at Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown. He was the husband of Virginia E. (Detharidge) Rute for 32 years.
Born in Kreidersville, he was a son of the late Walter F. Sr. and Margaret E. (Miller) Rute.
An Army veteran of the Korea era, he served in Panama and achieved the rank of corporal.
He was a member of Race Street Baptist Church, Catasauqua.
He was employed as an equipment operator by Keystone Cement Company, Bath, for 36 years before retiring in 1992.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Joan M. and husband Frederick Lesko of Pleasant Valley, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Beverly; two stepsons, Craig and Robert; three grandchildren, Austin, Hayden and Jessica; two sisters, Catherine Zieserl of Bath and Dorothy and husband Joseph Smar of Bethlehem; three brothers, Walter F. Jr. of Whitehall, Elwood M. of Trexlertown and Vernon C. and wife Rita of Coplay; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, LeRoy and Orrin K.
