East Hills band to march in Philly parade

The East Hills MS Chargers band will make its fourth appearance in the 6abc Dunkin’ Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade Nov. 26, and has been practicing for that spotlight.

Band director Christy Davis says they’ll be performing three songs along the parade route, ‘Shut Up and Dance’, ‘Crazy Train’, and in televised areas ‘Let It Snow.’ Davies says they’re not guaranteed TV time, but she’s hopeful.

Davies says 115 band members, including the band front directed by Dora Boyd-Simons, are one of ten bands in the parade and will be in the fifth position. Four bus loads of band members and supporters will leave Bethlehem at 5:30 a.m. to be in place in the parade lineup.

Billed as the America’s longest running Thanksgiving Day parade, it will start off at 9 a.m. The parade route starts at 20th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard, and ends at the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum. It will be televised from 8:30 a.m. until noon by 6abc.

Davies explained that the application to appear took place in September 2024 and that it included an application and video submission.
