District News: Steckel students place first at regional Invention Convention
Congratulations to Steckel Elementary School gifted students Natalie Ibrahim, Ataullhaq Haq, Benjamin Koch-Borda, Baziar Moate and Trayce Rennolds and their advisers, STEM teacher Kevin Loht and art teacher Nicole Demjan, on winning first place in the K-4 category of the regional Invention Convention, held Nov. 17 at Lehigh Carbon Intermediate Unit 21, for their health care cart project called O.M.E.U.H.
These students now move on to the state competition in Hershey in February 2026.

Parent-teacher conferences in Whitehall-Coplay School District will be held Nov. 24 and 25. There will be no classes for students.

The winter sports season will officially begin during the week of Thanksgiving. If you are interested in joining a winter sport, reach out to the various coaches ASAP, as time is winding down. See the athletics department for more information.
The meet the team night will be Nov. 25 in the gymnasium.

WCSD will be closed Nov. 26-Dec. 1 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America will be hosting a holiday drive to help benefit those in need in our community. The drive will continue through Dec. 3. Consider donating clothing, canned food and/or hygiene items to the main office.

There is a free Northampton Community College seminar, set for 5-7 p.m. Dec. 11, for parents/guardians to learn about the federal financial aid application, what your role is as the parent on your child’s FAFSA and how to open your FAFSA account. Laptops will be available to assist with account opening after general information is provided.

WHS seniors, be on the lookout for an email from Derlunas for upcoming senior portrait dates and times. If your picture has the wrong name on it, both your student ID and yearbook picture will be mislabeled. Be sure to check it and see Derlunas if you have an issue.

Seniors can check out college scholarship opportunities at studentscholarships.org and globalscholarships.com. Students are encouraged to take advantage of applying to various available opportunities.

Senior class dues have been posted to My School Bucks for the senior year to cover all the general class activities throughout the entire 2025-26 academic year.
