Coplay: Last day of leaf pickup is Nov. 21
Public works Director Paul Boyle reminds residents to put loose leaves only in cans. Plastic bags with leaves will not be picked up. Leaf pickup ends Nov. 21.
Call the borough office at 610-262-6088 to schedule pickups of sofas, plastic-encased mattresses, chairs, dressers, etc. There is a limit of two per year at no charge.

Reminder: If you ordered from the potato filling sale at St. John’s Lutheran Church, pickup will be noon-2 p.m. Nov. 22 at the church, 18 S. Third St.

American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St., will host its ninth annual Christmas party Dec. 5.
There is limited seating. Tickets are now on sale at borough hall, Coplay Eatery, Reph’s Auto and Samuel Owens Restaurant. Tickets are discounted if purchased in advance.

Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association and the borough will hold its Christmas tree lighting 4-6 p.m. Dec. 6. It promises to be entertaining and fun for all. Meet with Santa Claus and tell him what you want for Christmas.

The heritage committee at Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., is holding its Silvester Feier New Year celebration Dec. 31. Ring in the New Year with European flair.
Join the party for a hot buffet meal 3 p.m., music by the Emil Shanta Band 4-7 p.m., cake with coffee 5 p.m. and a 6 p.m. champagne toast (coinciding with midnight in Europe).
The cost includes the meal, beer, wine, soda, water and juice.

Consider donating food to Coplay Food Bank. Help those in need have the food they need through the holidays.
Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.
If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.
The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

The Coplay Scholarship Fund Committee plans to award two $5,000 scholarships to Coplay graduates who enrolled in university, college, technical school or the Allentown Police Academy.
