THANKSGIVING BREAK: All schools will have half days Nov. 24 and 25. Dismissals - HS: 11 a.m.; MS 11:30 a.m.; and ES noon. Schools will be closed from Nov. 26 to Dec. 1

HERITAGE MONTH: November is Native American Heritage Month, recognizing the vital contributions of Indigenous peoples past and present.

HOLIDAY SHOPPING: James Buchanan ES, Nov. 22, 1 to 4 p.m.; vendors, hand crafted items, bake sale and scholastic book sale; 1621 Catasaqua Road. Join the Facebook event page for a full list of vendors and crafters.

ACADEMIC STANDOUTS: At the Oct. 20 regular board meeting, four outstanding Freedom HS seniors were recognized for their achievements in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Ethan Fredericks was named a National Merit Semifinalist, placing him among the top 1 percent of the 1.5 million students who entered the program.

Additionally, Gwen Adriguez, Sean Blackton and Cody Smith were recognized as Commended Students for their exceptional academic promise.

THANKSGIVING PARADE: The East Hills Band will march in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade.
