Parryville gets no trash bids

Parryville Borough received no bids for its municipal trash hauling contract.

Waste Management, the current provider, has declined to renew its contract, stating they “no longer have a presence” in the area.

Administrator Nicole Beckett suggested the borough’s “smallness is probably the issue” in attracting bids.

She plans to explore potential partnerships with neighboring municipalities, including Palmerton, Bowmanstown, and Franklin Township.

If a new borough-wide contract cannot be secured, residents may be required to find their own individual haulers.

Municipalities who have renewed their contracts with haulers have seen significant increases; some have doubled.

Local company Tamaqua Transfer was purchased by Casella Waste Systems. The new company is enforcing previously established weight limits.
