DANCE SOUP: Dance Soup has become a cherished annual fall tradition at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts), celebrating the artistry and innovation of student choreographers. Under the direction of Rebecca Moyer and Jennifer Weaver, this year’s concert offers a dynamic blend of senior solos and ensemble works, featuring a wide range of styles-from modern and contemporary to jazz and ballet.

The concert serves as a capstone for students enrolled in the Creative Process for the dancer course, providing an opportunity to apply their classroom learning to a live performance setting.

Evening performances Nov. 21 and 22 at 7 p.m. Matinee performance Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at CharterArts.org.

WRITERS’ GROUP: Greater Lehigh Valley Writers’ Group will hold its monthly meeting from 10 a.m. – noon Nov. 22. The meeting is offered in a hybrid format—in-person at the Palmer Branch of the Easton Library, 1 Weller Place, Palmer and online via Zoom.

Membership business will be conducted from 10-11 a.m. From 11 a.m.-noon, author and forensic psychologist Dr. Katherine Ramsland will present “Cooking Up Hooks: The Psychology of Grabbing and Keeping Your Readers.” To inject narrative momentum, you need hooks – not just the one that grips readers on page one. Hooks occur all the way through, aiding the mood, pace and voice. They work because our brain is hardwired for expectation, which sets us up for both surprise and satisfaction. Types of hooks will be explored, the way they work and where to place them in your story.

SCHOLARSHIP TOURNAMENT: Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine, St. Luke’s Sports Medicine and St. Luke’s Development are once again teaming up for the second annual Trina Wijangco, MD, Memorial Scholarship Pickleball and Cornhole Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 23.

The event runs from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Trina Wijangco, MD, Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund, which awards scholarships to deserving students who are dedicated to enhancing diversity in medical education and/or have a proven track record of serving historically underserved or underprivileged communities.

A kickoff meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 22, in the Tavern Room at 150 West Walnut St., Hellertown. The meeting will introduce participants to the program and outline the upcoming workshops.

The initiative will be led by Robin Marchionni, a living historian and experienced seamstress specializing in colonial attire. Robin will teach classes beginning in early 2026.
