The Morgenland Union Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, hosted a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Nov. 1. Dinner was served 4-7 p.m. and included salad, Italian or garlic bread, spaghetti with homemade meatballs and a choice of red or white sauce. Coffee and other beverages were available, along with a wide variety of homemade desserts.
The dessert table featured an impressive selection of apple crumb pie, cherry crumb pie, cherry pies, apple pie, pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll, black bottom cupcakes, coconut cake, pumpkin custard, sticky buns, banana cake with white icing, apple crisp, chocolate cake with white icing, chocolate cake with peanut butter icing, German apple cake (without nuts), cinnamon swirl pound cake, and blueberry crumb cake.

Member Wayne Schaeffer explained “Morgenland” means “Land of the Morning Sun” in Germa – a fitting name, as the church faces east. The original church was built in 1857 and torn down in 1957. The current building was completed June 3, 1973.
