X-country teams compete at Salisbury

Both Northwestern cross country teams went 4-2 in a meet at Wilson last week.

The Northwestern boys team improved to 15-5 with wins over Salisbury (15-50), Catasauqua (15-50), Bangor (15-50) and Pen Argyl (16-47), and losses to Southern Lehigh (15-46) and Wilson (18-39).

Michael Richards led the Tiger boys team with an 11th-place finish. Brady Furman (15th), Jonathan Fornauf (18th), Isaac Grubb (20th) and Kieran Baker (21st) rounded out the Tigers’ top five at the meet.

The Tiger girls team (14-6) beat Bangor (23-38), Pen Argyl (21-40), Salisbury (17-46) and Catasauqua (15-50) but lost to Wilson (22-35) and Southern Lehigh (20-43).

Rosalia Nestor led Northwestern (14-6) with a second-place overall finish. Teammate Katie Furman was 16th overall, followed by teammates Ava Smedstad (19th), Emily Fornwalt (26th) and Amber Carl (29th).

Northwestern has one meet scheduled for this week and one other week after.

The Colonial League Championships will follow the regular season with the District 11 Championships a week later.
