Trojans roll past Canaries, 45-0

Over the course of the first half of the regular season, the Parkland High School football team has been well balanced with its scoring, both through the air and on the ground.

Last week there was no need to go to the air as the PHS running game did all the damage.

Parkland rushed for 168 yards and six touchdowns as the Trojans stayed undefeated with a 45-0 victory over Allen last Thursday night in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference game.

The Trojans improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference. They are one of just two teams in the EPC unbeaten at 6-0, including Easton.

Parkland made quick work of the Canaries (3-3 overall, 0-3 in the EPC), as they scored 21 points in the first quarter and added 10 more points in the second quarter to lead 31-0 at halftime. The Trojans added seven points in each of the last two quarters to come away with the win.

TJ Lawrence led the way for the rushing attack, finishing with a team-high 59 yards on eight carries and three touchdowns. Naquan Thomason tallied 56 yards on 10 attempts and a score. Justin Barnes had 49 yards on nine carries and a touchdown and Liam Spang scored on his only carry from a yard away.

Finn Coen went 10-for-15 through the air for 153 yards. Nassim Adams caught three passes for 86 yards and Blake Nassry had three receptions for 31 yards.

Defensively, Spang led the way with six total tackles, along with two tackles for loss. Lawrence tallied four tackles and one for loss. Nassry recorded three tackles and came away with an interception.

Parkland is at Dieruff (1-5 overall) Friday night at J. Birney Crum Stadium before hosting Central Catholic (3-3) next Friday night back at Parkland Area School District Stadium.
