Trojan field hockey beats Liberty, 5-0

The Parkland field hockey team finished the regular season and began postseason play last week.

The Trojans nine-game winning streak end last Tuesday when they fell to Emmaus, 2-1 in both teams’ final regular season East Penn Conference game.

Olivia Esteban scored the Parkland goal in the first quarter to give her team a 1-0 lead. Emmaus tied the game in the second quarter and won it with a goal in the fourth quarter. Parkland goal keeper Audrina Stewart made 12 saves in the game as the Hornets outshot the Trojans 12-1.

Parkland bounced back from loss to beat Boyertown 2-1 Wednesday in a nonleague game. Goal scorers and statistics from that game were not received by the Press.

The Trojans finished the regular season 14-4 overall and 11-2 for third place in the East Penn Conference behind Emmaus and Easton, the only two teams in the league that beat Parkland this year.

The Trojans earned the No. 3 seed in the league playoffs and beat Liberty 5-0 Saturday to advance to this week’s semifinals where they will take on No. 2 seed Easton. Goal scorers and statistics from that game were not received by the Press.

Parkland lost to Easton 6-1 in the Trojans’ second game of the season on Aug. 27.
