SV hands SHS football team fourth straight loss
The Salisbury football team lost to Saucon Valley, 40-13 last Friday night in Hellertown.
The Falcons are now 2-5 on the season after dropping four straight games following in a 2-1 start.
The Falcons’ score in the game came on a 26-yard pass from Keaton Frye to Alexander Moren.
Frye completed five of 17 passes in the loss, with one touchdown and three interceptions. He also led his team with 95 rushing yards on 13 carries.
Jadiel Gonazalez caught two passes for 49 yards in the game.
Jeremiah Bell led Salisbury with eight total tackles, including five solo tackles. Jacob Watson made seven stops, including four solo tackles.
Salisbury has been playing without several of its key players the past five weeks because of injuries, including some players who are key pieces on both sides of the ball.
The loss drops Salisbury to eighth place in the District 11 Class 3A rankings. The top eight teams make the playoffs in 3A, which has nine teams. The Falcons have a sizable lead over Pine Grove for the final spot and might be able to get into the tournament without winning another game over the final three weeks of the regular season.
With unbeaten Notre Dame (Green Pond) and undefeated defending state champ Northwestern Lehigh in the top two places in District 11 Class 3A, the teams that finish seventh and eighth in the rankings will have challenging first-round matchups.
This week the Falcons take on the team just ahead of them in the rankings, Palmerton (2-5).
The Blue Bombers are coming off a 41-6 loss to Palisades, but beat Wilson 35-0 the week before that. Their other win this season came against Saucon Valley, 19-6 in week 3.
The Falcons finish the season with games against Northern Lehigh (Oct. 17) and Palisades (Oct. 24).
