PHS XC teams compete at Paul Short

The Parkland boys cross country team finished sixth last week at the annual Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University.

Parkland finished two places ahead of Emmaus in the Gold Division, which is the strongest of the three high school divisions at the meet.

The Trojans were led by Colin McGuigan, who finished 11th overall at Lehigh last Friday. Jaiden Zabler (57th), Logan McEvoy (62nd), Luke McEvoy (89th) and Isaia Wilson (93rd) made up the rest of the PHS team score. Teammates Cole Orloski (96th) and Alexander Abosamra (106th) also ran in the boys race, which had 362 finishers.

Parkland’s girls team finished third in the Brown Division with Harshita Keerthi finishing third overall in the race. Emma Carlson (17th), Violet Forte (52nd), Lilah Ellis (63rd) and Dani Schultz (64th) made up the rest of the Trojan team score. Teammates Kenzi Schultz (66th) Madelyn Kruk (71st) also competed in the girls Brown race, which had 362 finishers.

The Trojans competed in an East Penn Conference regular season meet three days before heading to Lehigh, with the girls team picking up a win over Stroudsburg and the boys beating both Allen and the Mountaineers in the meet.

Keshav Patel finished first overall to lead the Parkland boys team, followed by teammates Brendan Frank (2nd), Angel Chamorro-Melendez (3rd), Derek Taveras (4th) and James Bosco (5th).

In the girls race, Parker Tatum took first place for the Trojans, followed by teammates Anastasia Pino (2nd), Kruk (3rd), Emma Clewell (4th) and Juliana Varano (6th).

Heading into the final regular season meet of 2025 this week, the Parkland boys are 12-0 and tied with Emmaus and Central Catholic, which are both also 12-0. The teams met Tuesday at the Hornets’ home meet at Camp Olympic to decide the regular season title.

Parkland’s girls team is tied for second place in the EPC with Emmaus at 11-1.

The EPC Championships will be held next week at DeSales University.
