The Parkland High School girls volleyball team has been on a winning streak the past several weeks. The Trojans have won 11 straight matches since they’re last loss, which came Sept. 3 against unbeaten Bethlehem Catholic.

The Trojans won all three of their EPC matches last week and added another victory in nonconference competition.

The week began last Tuesday night with a five-set victory over Emmaus, which gave the Hornets their first conference loss of the season. Two nights later, Parkland defeated Allen in straight sets. On Saturday, the Trojans took down Germantown Academy in straight sets and this past Monday came out victorious on the Central Catholic 3-0.

“I think the girls have done a tremendous job in their growth and their control of the ball,” said Krause. “They worked on keeping the ball in play and getting some timing down with Alex Serina. She’s done a tremendous job of distributing the ball to the hitters. The hitters, including Kasia Burda, have really started to take charge now moving the ball around have been leading the team and kills the last couple matches and have done a good job of leadership in the absence of Sarah Paugh.”

In the victory over Emmaus, scores were 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-12. Kasia Burda finished with 16 kills and three blocks. Riley Schilling recorded 13 kills, Sami Walls tallied 12 kills and Gabby Nissen totaled nine kills. Chloe Coonradt contributed 28 digs and four aces, Josee Kim notched 18 digs and three aces and Alex Serina added 46 assists, eight digs and two aces.

The match victory over the Vikettes had a final tally of 25-18, 25-21, 25-19. Burda tallied 16 kills, three aces and two blocks. Schilling recorded 10 kills and Walls added eight. Bhanji contributed six kills and two blocks. Coonradt had 15 digs and three aces, while Leach finished with 10 digs. Serina added 36 assists.

Parkland, which improved to 12-2 overall and 11-2 in the conference, hosted Whitehall Wednesday night in conference action and is at Bishop Shanahan Thursday night. Next week is the last week of the regular season and the Trojans are at Dieruff Monday evening and at Emmaus Wednesday night.

“The chemistry with the team has been very positive and supportive where they feel very confident with each other and they can anticipate their teammates reactions to different adjustments on the floor,” Krause said. “They have done a great job in the weight room and that’s helped them as far as improving their strength and their durability over the course of a five-set match. Their in-game adjustments have been extremely improved as to not only from the coach’s perspective, but also individually they’re seeing patterns and making adjustments accordingly to what they see. The progress of this team has been a lot of fun.”
