PHS boys soccer scores a dozen goals on Dieruff

The Parkland High School boys soccer team has run the gauntlet all regular season in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, winning all of its conference games. That continued last week with three victories, two at home and one on the road.

The Trojans defeated Pocono Mountain West 7-0 at home last Tuesday night, Sept. 30. Parkland then scored a season-high 12 goals in a 12-0 victory on the road at Dieruff Thursday. The Trojans opened this week with a 2-1 win at home against Northampton.

In the win against the Panthers, both James Whitehead and Ryan Bender finished with two goals to lead the offense. Anthony Bautista, Jose Canela and Lincoln Fritz all found the back of the net once. Taj Pollard, Alex Hurwitz and Noah Dopera all contributed an assist. Parkland outshot PMW 21-1 and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. Matt Feiller made one save in net.

Goal scorers and statistics for the Huskies game were not received by the Press.

In the victory over the Kids, Bender scored both goals and Kerem Adali assisted on one of them. Parkland finished with 10 shots on goal, compared to four from Northampton and also led 2-0 in corner kicks. Andrew Staples had three saves in net.

Parkland, which improved to 16-0-1 overall and 16-0 in the conference, ended the regular season at Emmaus Wednesday. The winner of that game will be the number one seed in the EPC Tournament, which starts Saturday.
