Parkland girls soccer gets rematch vs. EHS
After winning its first 15 games of the 2025 season, the Parkland girls soccer team suffered its first loss of the season last week, falling to Emmaus 2-1 in double-overtime Wednesday at the Hornets’ Memorial Field.
Emmaus got on the scoreboard with a first-half goal by Lizzy Bender and an assist from Giuliana Meyer. The Trojans tied the score in the second half thanks to a goal by Kennedy Perkins and assist by Meghan Tarantino.
After a scoreless first overtime period, Emmaus scored the golden goal on the foot of Sophia Shutkufski and an assist from Bender.
Hannah Hertzog and Keira Shearer split time in the goal for Parkland, with Hertzog finishing with three saves and Shearer making two saves.
Parkland ended the regular season with a 14-3-1 overall record and 14-1-1 mark in the conference. Emmaus was 16-2 and 15-1. The Trojans earned the three seed and took on the sixth seed, Whitehall Tuesday evening at Parkland High School.
Parkland bounced back in its first postseason game, taking down the Zephyrs 4-1 in an EPC quarterfinal round game Tuesday night at Parkland High School.
Trojans goals were scored by Isabella Hallal, who led the offense with two, and then Jummai Umaru and McKenzie McNeely each found the back of the net once to round out the scoring.
Parkland now has a rematch with the second-seeded Hornets in the semifinals Thursday at a site to be determined. The winner will take on the top-seeded Nazareth or fourth-seeded Central Catholic in the final Saturday afternoon.
