The Parkland High School girls soccer team entered the final full week of the regular season unbeaten in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, and remained that way with the only the regular season finale left.
The Trojans were victorious in all three of their conference matches last week, but lost a nonconference home game in between.
Last Tuesday, Sept. 30, Parkland defeated Pocono Mountain West 9-0 on the road and then followed that up with an 8-0 over Dieruff at home Thursday night. The Trojans fell to Central Dauphin 2-1 at home Saturday afternoon in a nonconference game and began this week with a 1-0 victory at Northampton.
In the win over the Panthers, there were eight different goal scorers, including Kennedy Perkins, Isabella Hallal, McKenzie McNeely, Sarah Avila, Avery Maier, Sarah Huff, Liana Zurinskas and Lila Zuber. There was also an own goal to cap the scoring.
Huff also contributed two assists, while McNeely, Delilah Zaiter, Hallal, Maia Rojas-Ondra and Chloe Sammarco all added one. Parkland finished with 13 shots and did not allow one, while finishing with a 1-0 edge in corner kicks. Keira Shearer and Hanna Hertzog split time in net, but were not forced into action.
In the victory against the Huskies, once again, the scoring was shared, as Hallal, Maier, Katie Sammarco, Jummai Umaru, Huff, Megan Tarantino, Keira Shearer and Adrianna Rizzotto all found the back of the net.
Parkland, which is 14-2-1 overall and 14-0-1 in the EPC, ended the regular season at Emmaus Wednesday. The Trojans will be a one or the two seed in the EPC playoffs and host a quarterfinal round game.
