Hornets rout Allen, 42-6
The Emmaus football team rolled up 475 yards of offense in a 42-6 win over Allen last week.
The Hornets (4-5) took a 21-0 halftime lead and after giving up a score early in the third quarter, added three more touchdowns in the second half.
Jay Santos led Emmaus with 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 15 carries.
Quarterback Jerek Cooper ran seven times for 97 yards an one touchdown. Anthony Attar ran the ball twice for 79 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown.
Cooper also threw for a touchdown in the game, going 7-for-12 passing for 76 yards with a TD and one interception.
Peter Sherman also threw a touchdown pass in the win.
Kai Jefferson-Rushing caught four passes for 31 yards, including one touchdown. Four other Hornets also caught a pass in the game, including Ty Laird’s 20-yard TD reception.
On defense, Robert Edwards had 10 tackles, including six solo tackles, two sacks and four tackles for loss. Maximus Weber had six tackles, including four solo and one tackle for loss.
Asher Dougherty also had two tackles for loss as the Hornets made 10 TFLs in the game.
Cooper and Will Daves had interceptions in the win.
Emmaus looks for its first three-game win streak of the season when it visits Parkland Friday for the season finale.
The Trojans (9-0) have blown out their last six opponents by 30 points or more and haven’t been a in a close game since beating Northampton 38-27 on Sept. 5.
The Hornets head into the season finale as the eighth-place team in the District 11 Class 6A rankings. While a win would secure their playoff spot, they likely will still get to the postseason with a loss to Parkland.
Pocono Mountain West is ninth in the Class 6A rankings with a game against Pocono Mountain East (6-3) left on the schedule.
