The Parkland High School girls soccer team won a pair of league games last week to stay unbeaten in the East Penn Conference. But the Trojans suffered their first loss of the season in a nonleague matchup.
Parkland took down Pocono Mountain East 8-0 last Wednesday afternoon. The Trojans then downed Central Catholic 4-0 on Friday before concluding the week with a 1-0 loss to Council Rock South.
In the victory over the Cardinals, Parkland scored four goals in both the first and second halves and did not allow any. Isabella Hallal led the offense with two goals, and Kennedy Perkins, Chloe Sammarco, Liana Zurinskas, Sarah Huff, Delilah Zaiter and Avery Maier found the back of the net once. Hallal also contributed two assists, while Mackenzie Ashner had two, Sarai Wellington, Megan Tarantino and Maia Rojas-Ondra all had one assist. The Trojans outshot PME 14-1 and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Hanna Hertzog and Keira Shearer split time in net and Shearer finished with one save.
In the win against the Vikettes, Parkland did all of its scoring in the second half, netting four goals. Hallal tallied two and both Perkins and McNeely added one. Perkins and Zaiter each had an assist.
Parkland, which is now 11-1-1 overall and 11-0-1 in the conference, was at Pocono Mountain West Tuesday afternoon and hosts Dieruff Thursday night in EPC action. The Trojans welcome Central Dauphin to town Saturday in a nonconference matchup. The final week of the regular season next week sees Parkland at Northampton Monday night and at Emmaus Wednesday evening.
