Francis A. Harper

formerly of Schnecksville

Francis A. Harper, 99, formerly of Schnecksville, died Nov. 10, 2025, just shy of his 100th birthday, at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Ada (English) Harper and his special companion, Marguerite Huber. Born in Williamsport, Lycoming County, he was the son of the late Ralph Y. and Alice L. (Rockwell) Harper.

He was employed as a truck driver at Wickes Lumber before retiring. Since his formal retirement, he worked part-time at Wegman’s in South Whitehall Township for several years. He was a proud member of Calvary Baptist Church, Allentown, where he had served as a trustee and the deacon board. He constructed a pavilion at the church he was very proud of which was dedicated in his name. He was blessed to serve on several mission trips where he helped to build churches in Costa Rica.

He is survived by children, Clifford L. (Donna), of Copperas Cove, Texas, Francis A. Jr., of Owego, N.Y.; Erlene Jordan, of Bellefonte; sister, Martha Noble, of Verona, N.Y.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his granddaughter, Debra Hines.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Nov. 13, at the Grandview Chapel Mausoleum, 2735 Walbert Ave., Allentown, with Chaplain Robert Ernst officiating. No calling hours. The family will hold a memorial in the spring.
