The Emmaus High School girls soccer team had two Eastern Pennsylvania Conference games last week and won the first one, but fell in the second one, suffering its first defeat of the regular season in conference action.
The Hornets shutout East Stroudsburg North 10-0 last Tuesday with a season-high of goals scored. They dropped a match in double overtime, 2-1, at Nazareth Thursday.
In the victory over the Timberwolves, there were eight different goal scorers, led by a hat trick from Giuliana Meyer. Bailey Johnson, Lizzy Bender, Andrea Dolcemoscolo, Atlanta Dogert, Emma Paradise, Kyana Deabreu and Brynn Campbell each found the back of the net once. Bender finished with two assists, while Sofia Isaksson, Paradise, Johnson, Celeste Peralta, Deabreu, Campbell, Hannah Berk and Amelia Lower all contributed an assist. Both Sadie Wallace and Olivia Haberl split time in net and were not forced into action.
In the game against the Blue Eagles, Bender scored the lone goal for Emmaus, unassisted. Wallace finished with seven saves in net. Nazareth outshot Emmaus 9-6. They got their goals from Julia Sandt and Isabella Danise.
Emmaus, which is now 14-2 overall and 13-1 in the conference, has two games this week to conclude the regular season.
The Hornets hosted Liberty Monday night and welcome rival Parkland Wednesday in the season finale. Postseason play begins with the EPC Tournament next week.
