Three Emmaus High School golfers competed in last week’s PIAA Championships.
Emmaus junior Evan Walters finished tied for 24th place in a Class 3A boys field of 72 players.
Walters shot 72 the first day of the tournament and 78 on the second day to finish at 6-over par 150.
In round one on the Penn State University Course, Walters made four birdies, four bogeys and 11 pars to finish at even-par 72. A day later on Tuesday, Oct. 21, two double-bogeys and five bogeys were mixed in with three birdies and eight pars.
Emmaus senior Kyan DeLong qualified for states in 2025 for the first time in his high school career. DeLong shot 15-over par 159 to finish 53rd at the tournament.
District 11 and East Penn Conference girls champ Alexis Teichman competed in the girls tournament at states. She shot 27-over par 171 for 32nd place.
Fox Chapel’s Carson Kittsley won this year’s Class 3A boys title with an 8-under par 136 to finish one stroke ahead of Jack Sacriponte of Greater Latrobe.
Mya Morgan of Elizabeth Forward High School won this year’s girls Class 3A title with a 3-under par 141. Kayley Roberts (Phoenixville) was second at 145.
In Class 2A, Cole Powell of Scranton Prep shot 7-under par 137 to beat Fairview’s Anthony LaBoda by two shots for the boys title. St. Joseph’s Prep’s Madison Koshko won the 2A girls title with an 8-under par 136, beating West Middlesex’s Kate Sowers by two shots.
