EHS girls soccer falls in semifinal

The Emmaus High School girls soccer team was looking to win the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference championship after running through a successful regular season, losing just once, to the top team and undefeated Nazareth.

But the Hornets fell one game shy of the championship game. After defeating the seventh seed, Freedom, 1-0 in overtime, last Tuesday, Oct. 14, in the quarterfinal round at Memorial Field. They then were taken down by rival Parkland, 1-0, in the semifinals last Thursday night.

In the victory over Freedom, Sofia Isakson netted the lone goal after a scoreless regulation, on an assist from Lizzy Bender. Sadie Wallace finished with three saves in net for the win and her 12th shutout of the season. Emmaus outshot the Patriots 6-3 overall.

In the semifinal game with the Trojans, Kennedy Perkins found the back of the net midway through the first half on an assist by Isabella Hallal, which proved to be the game-winner to send Parkland to the title game, where they would defeat Nazareth 3-0.

The Trojans outshot the Hornets 10-6. Sadie Wallace made nine saves in net. Keira Shearer and Hanna Hertzog split time in net and each finished with three saves.

Emmaus, which is now 17-3 overall, received the third seed in the District 11 4A Tournament and will host the sixth-seeded Patriots again, this afternoon from Memorial Field.
