Anthony DeCario

of Macungie

Anthony “Tony” DeCario, 41, of Macungie, died unexpectedly Nov. 6, 2025.

Born in Belleville, N.J., he grew up in Edison, N.J. where he graduated from Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School in 2003.

He was the husband of Kathryn “Katie” DeCario (née Hammond).

He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2008, served four years and was honorably discharged. During his service he had one combat rotation to Iraq and earned the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon N, Overseas Service Ribbon and Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M. Device.

For the past nine years, he worked as a truck driver with KeHE Distributors.

His greatest joy was time with his family. A lifelong car enthusiast, he loved attending car shows. He enjoyed playing video games, loved going to the range with family and friends and loved going to the theater because of his wife.

In recent years, the family found a second home with the Fleetwood Community Theatre and Macungie Minstrelaires where they participated together in numerous productions including the Fleetwood Variety Show where he sang a solo. He was involved in group numbers and stage crew for both theater groups.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Paul N. and Jacob “Jake” Hammond; parents, Frank G. and Agnes V., of Fords, N.J.; siblings, Michele L. Martel, of Bethlehem; Michael A., of Lakewood, Wash.; Nicole L., of Seattle, Wash.; Christine M., of Fords, N.J., Dannielle Szuba, of Keansburg, N.J.; nephew, Stephen C. Centeno; nieces, Anissa L. Centeno and Lilah M. Jensen; cousin, Michael (Mickey) Fox.

A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton streets, Allentown. A calling period will be 3-6 p.m. before the service in the funeral home.

The family is deeply grateful for the love, support, kindness and generosity shown to Katie, Jake and Paul during this difficult time.

Contributions may be made to the family to assist with future needs.
