Northwestern Elementary honors local heroes for Veterans Day

Northwestern Elementary hosted a heartfelt Veterans Day Celebration Assembly Nov. 7 to honor and recognize the selfless contributions of local heroes.

Students, staff, veterans, and families enjoyed patriotic artwork and performances including songs, music, poems, and letters with inspiring stories of service and sacrifice.

Local veterans and families received a bright and patriotic greeting from kindergartners Kain C. and Gavin K. during the school’s annual Veterans Day event.
Scouts Dean K., Logan F., Sawyer S., Eli Y., Ryland P., Axl L., Harrison K., Ella M., Landyn P., Annalise C., Rowan T., Hannah P., and Noah W. placed the flag in the rotunda after the assembly.
After the assembly, the Beebe family enjoyed refreshments. The children were excited to locate a photograph of their father decorating the gymnasium.
The beautifully decorated gym set the stage for the patriotic Veterans Day program. Larry Leibensperger along with nieces Emma, Everly, and Hannah V. enjoyed refreshments and community fellowship afterward.
Red, white, and blue decorations filled the gym with pride. Gavin and Lucas L. enjoyed having their father Rob join them at school for refreshments following the assembly.
The staff and students at Northwestern Elementary dressed in patriotic colors to honor veterans. Proud students Kacie W., Aubrey H., Kataryna A., Ella B., and Rowan L.
Scott S. with his girls Quinn and Norah enjoyed the patriotic songs, student letters and family time. Applause filled the gym.
It was a sweet moment for John U. He enjoyed the entire program but sharing time and refreshments with his grandparents after the assembly was the best part of his day.
